Snowbombing was proud to partner with Smirnoff Equalising Music in 2018, and joined a movement dedicated to escalating gender parity within the electronic music scene, in which Smirnoff's aim is to double the number of female and female-identifying headliners by 2020. Smirnoff Equalising Music took over the Brück 'N Stadl, Snowbombing's awesome late night rave den, for a week packed with incredible artists, alongside supporting up and coming artists and offering exciting new opportunities across the festival. It's fair to say that it was pretty special...
Smirnoff Equalising Music at SB18
We look back at the fantastic work and progress made by Smirnoff's Equalising Music campaign at SB18!
Our roster of talent at SEM in the Brück'n Stadl at SB18 included Peggy Gou, the awesome Nastia, Honey Dijon and of course Artwork, our resident prankster in chief who joined the gang to purvey his wisdom and tackle the task of mentoring our two winning Mentees. And who battled their way through and won the Equalising Music competition to become our two triumphant mentees, we hear you ask?
The Smirnoff Equalising Music campaign set out to uncover 10 of the UK’s best undiscovered female and female-identifying DJ talent, and with the ace help of mentor Artwork, we set about listening through the entries. After a slew of awesome mixes were sent in, there were two clear winners for Artwork, that both blended a bewitching mix of House, Disco and Electronica. Step forward two real diamonds in the shape of Jay Carder and Eva Crystaltips!
After meeting up with Artwork for a studio session prior to Snowbombing, the two were flown out to DJ at the festival itself - with DJ sets outside on the terrace of The Smirnoff Arctic Disco, and both have since DJ'ed alongside Artwork on radio shows and parties in London. Both Jay and Eva grabbed the opportunity and embraced the chance to smash it at The World's Greatest Show on Snow, and we're sure it won't be the last time they make it out to the mountains...
"I wanted to get involved because I believe it’s up to all of us to push for gender equality." - Artwork
